Driftwood Shelf - Master Bedroom DIY Part 3

It started with a couple pieces of driftwood.

Driftwood, driftwood...what can I do with driftwood? How about a shelf? The top piece has perfect grooves for holding a frame or decoration of some kind.

I had Mr. G take them to the wood shop teacher at the high school where he works to drill picture frame holes (or whatever the technical term is for these holes).

He also drilled 2 holes in each piece and attached the two pieces together with a wooden dowel and secured them with glue.

I LOVE my new DIY driftwood shelf in our "Beach Cottage" style Master bedroom. But now the problem is finding something to put on it. I was thinking about an 8x10 photo on canvas. I put this 5x7 of me on our wedding day temporarily. What do ya'll think? Any ideas?

I am getting ready to do my master bath in a beach theme. I will definitely be using the driftwood shelf. Thanks for the tips!!
